Spencer}, кот. опирался на традиции солидарности рабочих; провал в 1890 общей забастовки членов профсоюза и портовиков вызвал осознание необходимости организованной политической борьбы трудящихся, что привело к созданию Австралийской лейбористской партии {Australian Labor Party}
